Scott Hunt, CPA

Scott has a Master’s Degree in Taxation and nearly 25 years of experience as a CPA. Scott specializes in providing tax planning, consulting and compliance services to closely held businesses and successful individuals in a broad range of industries. Scott’s background and personal interests drew him to the real estate development and property management industries – where he developed a particular expertise. A significant portion of his current practice entails serving real estate developers, investors, and related businesses.

 

Scott and his wife Kelly live in Normandy Park with their two teenage children. He enjoys boating, fishing, and other outdoor recreation activities with friends and family. A native of Eastern Washington, Scott has resided in the Seattle area for over 30 years. He is active in local nonprofit organizations, recently serving as Treasurer for Highline Medical Center Foundation.

Jim has over 40 years of experience as a practicing CPA – most of those years in the Seattle area. He has four married children and 12 grandchildren.  A priority for Jim is contributing to his community. He makes time to sit on at least one non-profit board in the West Seattle area.

David has a decade of experience as a tax professional and finds it rewarding to work with his clients to solve their tax issues. He's managed teams in both tax compliance and resolution as well as designed tax software for CPA firms across the country. His understanding of tax law, communication skills, and technological expertise make him a valuable asset for business owners and high net worth individuals navigating the often complex world of taxation.

 

In his free time, David enjoys traveling, craft breweries, and hiking with his wife and dog. He is a proud Michigan State alum and diehard fan of his alma mater’s football/basketball teams.​

Ben has a Master's Degree in Taxation and over 10 years of experience as a CPA. Ben specializes in providing proactive tax planning and consulting services to individuals and closely-held businesses across a wide range of industries. He has developed an expertise in the construction industry, where he is actively involved in professional organizations and has given multiple presentations on Tax Reform to industry leaders.

Ben and his wife Alissa live in West Seattle with their three children. Ben was raised in West Seattle, is an active member of the local community, and is proud to call this community his home. He enjoys both snow and water skiing, attending concerts and sporting events, and coaching his kids' basketball teams at the YMCA.

Bob has a diverse working history as an accountant for more than 35 years. He has worked for small accounting firms that emphasize tax return preparation, as well as CPA firms that prepare tax returns and perform regulatory audits. For a number of years, Bob worked in the tax software industry as a tax analyst, senior developer, and later, as head of the firm's quality assurance team for tax software. He has also served as a consultant to a very large software company's tax preparation software project.

Bob volunteered for 25 years as a docent at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. His many and varied interests, when not working on taxation issues, include his interest in aviation history, other specialty areas of history (Ancient, Medieval, and American), the plays of William Shakespeare, and music.

Roen Ako, CPA
Tax Manager

 

Roen joined Hunt Jackson with over 10 years of public accounting experience. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree, she laid her career foundation with three years of financial statement audit experience with a mid-tier firm before making her move to taxation. She has worked at small local public accounting firms in the Greater Seattle area with a healthy mix of tax compliance and tax planning mostly for small business owners within various industries and high net worth individuals.

 

Before moving to Seattle for college, Roen was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Currently, she lives in West Seattle with her wife, daughter, Bernese Mountain dog (Kai) and Golden Retriever (Koa). In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing golf, attending winery and brewery events, and is an avid home brewer.​

Manider Bassi
Senior

Upon obtaining her Psychology Degree from the University of Washington and subsequently her Accounting degree from Central Washington University, Manider interned at a local public accounting firm before joining as a Associate. She is currently studying for the CPA Exam.

 

Born in San Jose, California, Manider spent much of her youth in the Bay area until relocating with her family to the suburbs of beautiful Seattle.  Leaving sun for the occasional rain cloud was made easier by all the great hiking and biking trails and the community like feel of the Northwest. When not hiking or biking, Manider enjoys reading, trying new cuisines, and spending time with her family and friends.

Cheryl graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with an MBA Degree concentrated in Accounting, and a Bachelor Degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in International Business. Prior to joining Hunt Jackson as an Associate, she worked at a start-up accounting company in Florida. She is currently working towards completing her CPA certification.

Cheryl was born in Canada, raised in Hong Kong, and has been in the United States since high school. In her free time, Cheryl enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, skiing/snowboarding with her significant other and her Beagle Lab mix dog (Fade).

Batuulo is the proud daughter of immigrant parents from Somalia who was born and raised in South Seattle.  She attended middle & high school abroad in Egypt, memorably during its revolution, which was an incredibly impactful opportunity that she is very grateful for.  

Returning to Seattle in 2016 to attend the University of Washington, Batuulo is currently pursuing her Masters of Accounting while also studying for the CPA exam.  She has interned with several local public accounting firms, is a member of the WSCPA, and a PCAOB Scholar.  When she's not busy working or studying, Batuulo enjoys reading thriller books, hiking, skydiving, traveling, and spending time with family & friends.
